Wednesday, May 28th, 2008 - 17.5 beers and the Stanley Cup

Darren McCarty of the Detroit Red Wings determined that the Stanley Cup holds 17.5 beers. He might get a chance to test that research soon…for the final leg of the Triple Crown, Big Brown is listed at 1 to 20 at some outlets. So for your $100 wager, you get back $2. Pro Line thinks those odds are embarrassing...Elite XC - the "XC" stands for "Extreme Combat" - will air Saturday night on CBS at 9pm Eastern, and includes YouTube star Kimbo Slice. Dana White and the UFC may have put the sport on the map with their relationship with Spike, but Spike isn't coast to coast network TV...elite soccer players are something else. They're going from finishing up domestic leagues that for some started at the beginning of last August, through those and 40 or so games there, and other competitions like Champions League or UEFA Cup where they could play another 20 or more, plus their national team schedules for another half dozen to a dozen, and straight into Euro 2008. How much is too much?...good of Damon Allen to tell us what we already knew - that his career as a football player is over...Germany tied Belarus 2-2 in a Euro 2008 tuneup? Despite that poor result, they remain my pick to take the Euro title...Tiger Woods is on course to return for the U.S. Open. Would it surprise anyone that he got off his couch and smoked the field?...the Cleveland Indians pulled off a triple steal last night, the first in 21 years...a hilarious look at NBA players of today and the past and which WWF/WWE stars they compare to. They missed one all too literal one: Rudy Tomjanovich = Brutus Beefcake. You know, because both had their faces explode into a million pieces, Rudy T's by Kermit Washington, Beefcake's by a boat...I have developed a serious addiction to Starbucks. Where do I get help?...goodnight, San Antonio Spurs...have a tremendous Wednesday.

So Yanks are up 9-8 in extras...and who blows it..LaTroy Hawkins...God, please get us some good relievers...was tough to watch him last night.

Am I the only one that has trouble seeing the NBA score on sportsnet?
The little TNT scoreboard is like at the side of my screen.

Jose Canseco...who is now broke..found an opponent for his Celebrity Boxing Match cash grab--err event...former NFLer Vai Sikahema needs the money as well I guess.

Mucho respect to futbol players and the schedule they endure. Highly underestimated athletes, imho. Unless, you're speaking of Danny Dichio...who can be awkward.

Not to be picky, but doesn't 1 to 20 pay $5 on the $100? I thought your dollar was about equal to the US, nowadays :)

Think he was listening to "Drive This" where they said 1000$ wager pays 20$.

Right now on Bet365 Big Brown is -300. If I'm gambling..this cracked hoof scares me and I'm taking Casino Drive at +300.

Football has a crazy schedule but that God we get it year round. The NBA/NHL is a drag come postseason.

Btw, Mk...nice stuff in the Sun today..hoping some "higher-up" sees it. But here's a simple solution that I can't post on the board for obvious reasons.

If Jack and all the other presidents of Supporter Groups were to organize an event for a game..where they spend zero dollars at the game(No beer/food/merchandise)

MLSE would be shitting their pants and I think the figure they'd lose would be in and around 320k if not more...that would be a nasty hit and I can assure you those around BMO would change their act with regards to tailgates and such. Obviously not everyone will participate but if you involve a good chunk of supporters...it would work brilliantly.

gbvh - what's wrong with rocket fuel? A man can't live on Red Bull alone!

yf - don't even start me on LaTroy. Sour. Word is he may get let go entirely. Didn't he start well?

amazing that there was serious talk way back when that Damon Allen was going to retire the same year as his older brother Marcus Allen. How many years ago was that?
Marcus retired after the 1997 NFL season ...

in Edmonton , we will always remember Damon for throwing that goal line INT in BC territory in the 1994 Western Division Championship that cost us a berth in the Grey Cup.

i've suggested many a time on the red patch boys board there should be a Buy No Beer day. (easier said than done for me, among others, of course.)

i concur, yf. hit 'em where it hurts. wish we could pull something like this off.

He'd be GBV...the "H" complicate things for you here YF?

Like my Pinnacle affiliation? Ditch that bet365 crap, YF!

GBV? Your going to have to give me a little more than that lol..

Sorry BET365 has raped me but they also have helped me out a lot. Especially in-game on tennis points...and gotta love the Loyalty bonus I get every now and then.

I'll tell you what once my stock skyrockets and I get that nice chunk of change I'll switch.
