Wednesday, May 21st, 2008 - Champions League Final!

Finally, the Champions League final is upon us and of course, I'm picking Manchester United to knock off Chelsea. Just more quality overall, and the strength of Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic in the middle is the difference. But, any time you're in a big game against Michael Ballack, Didier Drogba and Joe Cole, it isn't going to be easy. The field won't help either. The ESPN SoccerNet podcast says the field is a disaster, uneven and coming apart at the yet-to-take-root seams. Game time is 2:45pm (Eastern) on TSN...St. Louis Cards (former) closer Jason Isringhausen punched a TV after losing his closers job and is now on the DL. I know baseball players aren't brain surgeons but they might want to find another way to vent their frustrations without damaging a hand. Those tend to be in important in that game…for some reason, Sens fans are bent that Dany Heatley went wild at the World's…funny how much talk to A-Rod "sleep over" comment got last spring in reference to Derek Jeter, but Jason Giambi mentions sharing underwear with Jeter and the story leaves as quick as it arrives. Just goes to show how big any A-Rod/Jeter story is...the New Jersey Nets are not only said to be in talks for Carmelo Anthony but also in "more substantive" discussions for one Andrea Bargnani of the Raptors...regular reader Bukakke revealed that King/Commissioner William Regal has been suspended from the WWE for drugs. If you've seen Regal, you can assume he's not hitting the 'roid spike...so Jason Taylor finished second on Dancing With The Stars. Wonder if Bill Parcells will hold that against him?...Toronto FC host the fading DC United, who laid a 4-0 beatdown on the Reds earlier this year. TFC settles the score tonight with a win. Kickoff is 7:30 on The Score...have a tremendous Wednesday.

Can't wait for todays game...going to stumble into work tonight. Btw, no AC Milan in Champions League next year makes me a happy man.

Regal has battled drug addiction in the past but damn, he was getting the biggest push of his career

Fuckin Yanks...that's all I have to say about that

I had a soccer game last night so had no clue what was going with the Yanks. Get in the car, check the Crackberry and one of my boys emailed and said "ARod went yard". Thought that had to be a good sign. Zip onto my browser and see the score. 12-2. Losing. Lovely.

They're so dead it is scary, no signs of life in that offense at all and the pitching is just leaking. 2/3 of an inning for Mussina? Yep, that's the Mussina I expected this year.

7.5 out and sinking like a stone.

I didn't expect much this year, but I didn't expect this.

I didn't expect them to be losing to Baltimore, Detroit and TB on a regular basis. On another note Edwar Ramírez looks like a bright spot this year. 10 scoreless innings pitched with only 5 hits.

Farnsworth is another piece of shit

I don't call him "Farnsworthless" for nothing. Going to be nice to be rid of him, "American Idle" Pavano, Giambi, and Mussina next year. Hopefully they take that $80 million or so and get Teixera and a front of the line pitcher.

I didn't at any point think they should've traded for Santana, but thinking so now.

Then again, they were further back last year at this point and made it up so who knows?

Ramirez has been great. Maybe he moves to setup and the Yanks get Joba starting. That'd help.

Yea I would love to see Ramirez in the "Joba" spot and have Joba move up to the starting rotation. Thank God all that money is off the books after this season. Also would like to see Cano start producing...been terrible this year

Too bad about your road trip YF but MK's right, I think they were in worse shape last year and bounced back.

Stupid question: Is CL Final just 1 leg?

There's also Pettitte's deal coming off. I think I heard $85 million is coming off.

ROTR, one game, that's right.

Don't worry the road trip was a blast. Felt like a real fan getting heckled on the subway all the way back to Queens both nights..all in good fun.

Fuckin Tracy Chapman...been listening to "Fast Car" for the last like 3 days.
