Brett Favre was using a cell phone issued by the Green Bay Packers to talk to coaches and management of the rival Minnesota Vikings. That this was revealed is hardly surprising. After all, everybody knows that in crunch time, Favre always gets intercepted...believe it or not, more than a few MLB teams are not allowing fans to bring sunscreen into their stadiums for security reasons, falling in line with airplane rules around liquids and gels. Incredible. The New York Yankees just lifted their ban this past weekend...Lebron James says the Redeem Team will be bringing the Olympic gold back to the U.S. He guarantees it...Roger Federer is not having a great month. He's out at the Rogers Cup, no doubt bringing more than a few tennis fans to tears hoping for a Federer/Nadal rematch on Sunday...CC Sabathia is on one hell of a roll since going to the Milwaukee Brewers, tossing his third straight complete game and sixth of the year. Remember how badly he started? The guy is going to win the NL Cy Young. Just watch...the Globe & Mail's Stephen Brunt on Toronto FC: "they're scoring goals like the Blue Jays score runs"...I'd have easily bet Mike Mussina would lose 13 this year before I bet he'd win 13. Mussina is 12-3 since May 1st...the MLS All-Star game goes at BMO Field tonight. David Beckham et al are in town to represent the MLSers as they face English Premier League side West Ham. The Hammers had some traveling fans get in a brawl with the hosts in Columbus last weekend. I imagine they won't fare too well if they venture into the south end of BMO. Yours truly sold his ticket for nearly four times face value, such is my disdain for All-Star Games in general, though baseball does work. Kickoff is 7pm, coverage coast to coast on CBC...Philadelphia Eagles QB Donovan McNabb is talking a big game, all but promising the Eagles will win the NFC East. Not sure if McNabb has looked in the mirror of late, but his days as an elite QB ended the day Terrell Owens jumped ship. Or when he threw up in the final moments of Super Bowl 39...have a great Thursday.Rome burns on Favre...

Being an Oilers fan and seeing many a game at Rexall , I was in disbelief at the prices they charged for beer / concession. I was even more shocked at what a lame fucking experience it is. Seemed like there were some true fans in the upper deck , but we were surrounded by suits. My favorite was the old Oriental business man sitting next to me who didn't take his eyes off his Blackberry all game. He also pretty much shit a brick everytime I cheered when the Bruin's scored.
I honestly feel sorry for Leafs fans. Not being an ass here , just the facts. You are all force fed so much Leaf propaganda on their "network" and TSN , I really wonder if the average educated hockey fan truly know's what a shit organization that really is.
For the record , two nights later we went to that shithole Detroit and sat in Joe Louis Arena to watch the Wings vs. Blues. Tickets (same seats) were less than a third the price. Beers (larger than the ones served in Toronto) were less than half the price. The crowd was into it. Much better experience.
I have seen NHL hockey in a few barns now , and the only rink lamer than Toronto was Phoenix.

Buffalo vs. Tampa Bay in 2003 at HSBC was solid. Remember screaming "pass it to the Russian guy" every time TB touched the puck? The ONLY dudes in the building cheering for the Lightning , and we might have been the loudest. Definately the most obnoxious ....

I was actually talking about your comments as to something missing in the HSBC arena relative to E-Town. That, and our telling the guys in front of us that Lennox Lewis was at a peeler bar in Waterloo the night prior and them not believing it...until Big Daddy pulled out his video camera and showed a tape to them - shot under a table - of the then world champ getting a dance from a peeler.
I remember something to do with me, you and some kid in a washroom and some really offside comment I made but can't recall that one.
