Thin air really had a rough couple of games recently, but its great competitive spirit and improved play has pushed Jose Calderon back down the staircase into the basement for least effective defender on the team.

In the surprising news department, it seems Marcus Banks is determined to join him in the cold cellar.Blake Kennedyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08892935630385126023noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7239671995333340850.post-64594258522711025122009-12-13T19:27:25.723-05:002009-12-13T19:27:25.723-05:00Hose B information du jour:

Consider this: Jose Calderon (he of the <.360 stop%) has had 4 games this year in which he has played fewer than 19 minutes. In 3 of those four games (including today), the Raptors have held their opponents to under 1 point per possession, a feat performed only twice in the 21 games that Jose has played > 19 minutes in (in the home opener against a confused Cleveland team, and at home against Chicago (the third-worst offensive team in the league).

I'll suggest the problem is so profound that I'll point out that the Raptors' two best defenders by stop% on the year (Bargnani and Bosh) had poor games by their standards, but Jarrett Jack defensively was astounding (stop% over .870) and the Raptors won easily.Blake Kennedyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08892935630385126023noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7239671995333340850.post-27537526791868845272009-12-13T18:04:01.070-05:002009-12-13T18:04:01.070-05:00For some odd reason i thought the villa game was t...For some odd reason i thought the villa game was today and missed it. 9 of 9 points so far from the top 4, Arsenal next!Norwaynoreply@blogger.com
